Role Overview
As a Board Member, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization, advocating for our mission, and ensuring our long-term sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise, network, and passion for community service to make a real impact in the lives of NYC’s most vulnerable families.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
- Provide governance and oversight, ensuring Yadestiny Treasure Chest fulfills its mission and adheres to its bylaws.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of the organization’s strategic plan.

Fundraising & Advocacy
- Assist in identifying and securing financial resources, including personal contributions and leveraging your network for fundraising opportunities.
- Act as an ambassador for the organization, raising awareness and promoting our programs within your circles of influence.

Financial Oversight
- Review and approve annual budgets, financial statements, and key organizational decisions.
- Ensure the nonprofit’s financial health through sound decision-making and resource management.

Committee Involvement
- Serve on at least one board committee (e.g., fundraising, marketing, program evaluation) and actively contribute to its success.

Attendance & Engagement
- Attend quarterly board meetings and participate in organizational events and initiatives.
Qualifications
- Passion for our mission to empower underserved families and children in NYC.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: nonprofit governance, fundraising, finance, marketing, law, community outreach, or program development.
- Commitment to dedicating time, talent, and resources to Yadestiny Treasure Chest, including attending meetings, contributing to fundraising efforts, and supporting special events.
- Collaborative Spirit and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with other board members and organizational staff.
- NYC-based or with strong ties to the NYC community to bring local insights and networks to the table.
