The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships between the nonprofit and the community. They work to increase awareness of the organization's mission, recruit participants and partners, and ensure the nonprofit remains visible, trusted, and connected to those it serves.
Key Responsibilities:
Relationship Building: Develop and maintain partnerships with local organizations, .
Event Planning : attend community events (resource fairs, school events, town halls, etc.) to promote the nonprofit’s programs and initiatives.
Program Promotion: Distribute flyers, brochures, and marketing materials in the community; manage informational booths and tables at events.
Public Speaking: Represent the nonprofit at community meetings, workshops, and public events
Community Needs Assessment: Regularly gather feedback from the community to understand emerging needs and recommend new initiatives or services.
Skills and Qualities [ Good to have but not a requirement ]
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Energetic and approachable personality
Typical Goals:
Expand the nonprofit’s visibility in key neighborhoods and groups
Increase attendance and participation in programs
Build long-term partnerships that can lead to funding, program referrals, or volunteer support
Strengthen the organization's reputation as a trusted resource
Ability to work independently and with diverse populations
Event organization and coordination experience
Bilingual skills (optional but helpful depending on your community)
Passion for the nonprofit’s mission and community service
