Volunteer – Affinity Program Design Instructor

About Us:
The Blacklining Foundation is a nonprofit working to reverse the generational impacts of redlining by investing in the health, wealth, and legacy of historically marginalized communities. We run creative and career development programs that build practical skills and community wealth.

Role Overview:
We're looking for a volunteer who’s skilled in the Affinity Creative Suite (Designer, Photo, and/or Publisher) to teach beginner-level sessions to young adults and aspiring creatives in New York City. You’ll gain hands-on teaching experience and help empower participants with digital design skills that open doors to freelance and career opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach 1.5–2 hour design sessions every other week

  • Create lesson plans and accessible design tutorials

  • Support students in learning fundamentals and completing final projects

  • Help track participation and learning outcomes

  • Provide encouragement and a positive learning environment

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proficient in Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher

  • Comfortable speaking and presenting to small groups

  • Passionate about equity, design, and community education

  • Prior teaching or mentoring experience (bonus)

  • Organized, creative, and reliable
