Reading Partners - Volunteer Tutor
WHAT'S THE COMMITMENT?
Tutoring takes place from Monday through Thursday between 8am and 3pm
Commit to leading one-on-one, 45-minute tutoring sessions with a student grade K-4 on a weekly basis
Follow the Reading Partners structured curriculum
Sessions are held at the same day/time and with the same student each week
Tutors should arrive/log on for their session at least 20 minutes early
Follow the guidelines in our Tutor Code of Conduct
TUTORING OPTIONS:
In-person tutoring at one of our reading centers in the following neighborhoods: Lower East Side, Central Harlem, East Harlem, South Bronx, South Jamaica (Queens) and Bed Stuy.
All lesson materials are provided Reading Partners provides ongoing coaching and support
WHAT IS REQUIRED TO GET STARTED:
A positive attitude toward learning, diversity, and students
An ability to interact effectively with diverse student populations
Complete a volunteer application and a background check with the NYC DOE Complete a 1.5 hour orientation to learn the basics of our program
Follow schools and Reading Partners COVID policies
Education & schools
Families, Low-income communities
Age Minimum (with Adult): 14+, Minimum Age:14+
