Organization Profile

FUNDAVENYC, INC.

WELCOME

FundaveNYC (pronounced FUND-A-VEH NYC) aims to accelerate asylum seekers' and immigrants’ transition into thriving New York City residents. We strive to empower and advocate for our community by paving the way, creating solutions, and building connections. We achieve this through four focus areas:

  1. HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE: Our Welcomers give out necessities, as well as connect incoming migrants to health services and community groups.

  2. WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT: Our Mentors help our community navigate the system through work permit assistance, trainings, and job opportunities.

  3. AFFORDABLE HOUSING: Our certified Ambassadors assist New Yorkers in obtaining affordable housing.

  4. COMMUNITY BUILDING: Our Leaders coordinate sports teams, affinity groups, and recreational/cultural events, uniting us in pursuing self-actualization.

WHO WE ARE

Fundavenyc was established in 2021. Our team is made up of mostly immigrants, many Venezuelans or South Americans who risked their lives to escape persecution. The intimate, first-hand understanding of our community's needs sets us apart in providing effective short-term assistance and building long-term solutions. Our focus on relationship-building creates a strong organization that can contribute significantly to resolving the struggles our city faces.

Our Core Values are:

  • Respect
  • Solidarity
  • Leadership

We keep empathy and kindness at the forefront with each individual we come into contact with. We also equip our team with the technical and power skills necessary to create a positive impact.
