Celebrate Your Service
NYC Service issues Mayoral Service Recognition Certificates to honor NYC-based organizations, nonprofits (including City agencies), individual volunteers, and businesses that engage New Yorkers in service.
Certificates recognize service completed between January 1–December 31, 2025.
- All certificates are signed by the Mayor and Chief Service Officer
- Organizations and businesses may select print or digital certificates
- Individual volunteer certificates must be submitted by an NYC-based organization

Impact Awards
Honoring extraordinary contributions to New York City
Impact Awards recognize organizations, businesses, volunteers, and AmeriCorps alumni who strengthened communities through service during the 2025 calendar year.
- Spirit of the City Award: Recognizes an individual (21 or older) whose exceptional service has made a meaningful impact on their community and inspired others to take action.
AmeriCorps Alum Impact Award: Honors an AmeriCorps alum who continues to embody the spirit of “Getting Things Done” through community service beyond their term of service.
Community Impact Award: Celebrates an organization that strategically addresses city or community needs through innovative volunteer engagement.
Partnership Impact Award: Recognizes a collaborative effort between an organization and a business that came together in service to a community.
Youth Impact Award: Honors an individual or group of young people whose service has produced a tangible community impact.

2025 Award Winners
AmeriCorps Alum Impact Award: Rina Madhani
"After noticing gaps in literacy resources during her AmeriCorps service, Rina founded Start Lighthouse. The Literacy Hubs initiative serves 2,100 students in underserved NYC communities, providing diverse books, interventions, and family engagement to boost academic performance and literacy."

Community Impact Award: Every Day is a Miracle
"Every Day is a Miracle (EDM) fights food insecurity in the Bronx, providing 21.3M meals since 2008. EDM serves 4,568 families monthly and offers social services like benefits assessments, job referrals, and housing support. It operates in four locations, including three Title I schools."

Partnership Impact Award: Morgan Stanley & New York Edge
"Morgan Stanley and New York Edge launched a six-week Coding Club at PS 78 in Queens, using Scratch and imagiCharm to inspire young minds. Led by Morgan Stanley’s software team, the program ended with a showcase at their headquarters, where students presented projects, explored tech careers, and got a glimpse into software development."

Spirit of the City Award: Nancy Easton
"Nancy Easton (Wellness in the Schools) has transformed school wellness by empowering educators, chefs, and policymakers to rethink food and fitness in schools. Through Wellness in the Schools, she’s ensured healthy, delicious meals and active play for over a million students nationwide — including all NYC public schools."

Youth Impact Award: Adams Street Youth Leadership Council
"The Adams Street Youth Leadership Council created 'Bridging the Gap' to address violence between youth and police in downtown Brooklyn. After educational sessions and a field day with 130+ officers and youth, students' feelings of safety around law enforcement increased by 54%."

2024 Award Winners
AmeriCorps Alum Impact Award: Alibamba Sillah
"An AmeriCorps State and National alum, Alibamba has helped mobilize and engage residents to participate in BAMBA Sports, hosting annual soccer tournaments for low-income Black youth. During summer 2023, their summer tournament brought together over 600 participants, providing vital mental health support and keeping youths engaged."

Community Impact Award: Literacy Partners
"The Literacy Partners’ English for Parents program is an immersive English learning experience made for parents. Volunteers facilitate discussions or offer 1-on-1 support to foster moments of connection, increase parent-child bonding, and boost literacy skills."

Partnership Impact Award: Macquarie Group Limited & Team Kids
"The Team Kids Challenge, supported by Macquarie Group, is a 5-week youth leadership program empowering students to deliver acts of kindness, organize food and clothing drives, and lead service initiatives. Macquarie Group contributed a $260,000 match, the largest in Team Kids’ history."

Spirit of the City Award: Annabel Amir
"Annabel Amir co-founded and developed the Youth Mental Health Program at the American Central Asian Association, hosting workshops, therapy sessions, and fundraising efforts to enhance the lives of youth and families in NYC."

Youth Impact Award: Clinton School Rescuing Leftover Cuisine Group
"The Clinton School’s Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) group rescued excess food from businesses and restaurants, serving over 5,000 meals and relieving hunger while reducing emissions."

AmeriCorps Alum Impact Award: Katharine Reed
"Katharine expanded citywide volunteer engagement through the Sanitation Foundation, launching scalable community-led cleanup initiatives and managing large volunteer events."

Community Impact Award: Children of Promise, NYC
"Supports children of incarcerated parents through trauma-informed afterschool programming, academic support, and community advocacy."

Partnership Impact Award: Food Bank For New York City & New York Yankees
"A collaborative food distribution initiative that transformed Yankee Stadium into a community resource hub, distributing over 150,000 meals to Bronx residents."

Youth Impact Award: Afnan Faiza
"Afnan enhanced intergenerational programming at Sunnyside Community Services and launched a Pen Pals initiative connecting youth and older adults."
